Junior Grand Prix 2006-2007

 The Grand Prix is a series of events run throughout the winter season for Junior players from Under 11’s to Under 14’s.

The event is 3 v 3 and designed to be accessible to players who have only just started playing in a team. We hope that it is viewed as part of the process of learning to play volleyball and that teams will take part in that spirit.

 Dates

 The dates for this year are as follows:

November 18^th Christie Miller Sports Centre, Melksham ,Wiltshire 1200hrs-1600hrs

Under 12 – Under 14s Minivolley Championships ( 3 v 3 )

You will notice that the SW Championships are underlined. This event is usually separate from the Grand Prix. This year we have decided to allow results from this event to count as part of the Grand Prix scoring system. This way the Grand Prix will have enough events to allow for a discard, although that opportunity is not open to Under 11’s

Divisions

There are divisions for Under 11 Boys and Girls who play together. Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 Girls play in their own divisions and Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 Boys play in their own divisions. Girls may play in mixed teams in the Boys competition.

Different divisions may be played  together for organizational reasons but the results will be collated separately.

To be Under 11 a child must be Under 11 years old on 1^st September 2006. This compares with school year 6. This reasoning applies to the other age groups.

The Junior Grand Prix will be run over 5 Events this year.  

To qualify for a final position a team must have played in 4 of the 5 events.

Points are awarded on the following basis

    Winners 10pts, runners-up 8pts, 3rd place 6pts, 4th 5pts, 5th 4pts, 6th 3 pts, 7th 2pts, 

    all other teams score 1 point for taking part.

The age groups are Under 11, Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14.  

Under 11 are mixed the rest have separate groups for boys and girls
