JUNIOR BEACH VOLLEYBALL NEWS

Over the last three weekends an invitational junior beach tournament has been taking place in Brighton, Sussex.  We were very lucky to have been represented by some promising young beach players.  The first tournament was for the U14 Boys and Girls who played in some atrocious weather conditions.  Unfortunately, the U18 Boys was cancelled due to the late withdrawal of teams and the U18 Girls was cancelled due to very low entries.  The U16 Boys and Girls went ahead and due to low entries we were lucky to field two boys teams and three girls teams, one of them at very late notice.

Due to there being only one court at Brighton play took a bit longer than normal but we had a great weekend at the U16’s.  With new courts being built at Brighton next year, it is hoped that the whole tournament will take place over one weekend.

I would like to thank Denise Austin, Morph Bowes and Angie Clarke who helped with the selection of teams, Vince Joyce for the training session, Rex Palmer, Jim Robertson and Matt Stevens who were the travelling coaches.

                        5^th place    SW – Kelly Woolford, Lauren

                        6^th place    SW – Kate Pearce, Maddi Cobb
